Contacting your insurance company may not be the first thing you have on your mind after an unfortunate incident to your home or business. However, it's the MOST IMPORTANT step you must perform to get the claim process moving forward. Don't delay!
Some Steps TO Follow:
1. Read through your policy to obtain an idea of what is and isn't covered, what exclusions and limits are included, and what additional coverages you might have that you may have forgotten about. Refer to your policy. Make a list of questions as you go through the policy.
2. Notify your insurance provider ASAP via phone and/or online portal to file your claim and obtain your claim number. Refer to your policy.
3. Make any urgent repairs that are ABSOULTELY NECESSARY to minimize any further damage to the property without endangering yourself and/others. Most insurance companies policies allows this, and some REQUIRE it. Refer to your policy for more details. In doing so, it's your responsibility to keep copies of any receipts for reimbursement and to take detailed photos of the damage before doing any work is performed. Refer to your policy.
4. Document the claim. Take several still images and video detailing the damages for every impacted/affected area within your property that will help form the basis of the claim. This is especially important if immediate repairs are necessary to make the structure safe and habitable. Refer to your policy.
5. Be adjuster READY! The insurance company will assign a field & desk adjuster to your claim. S/he, the field adjuster, will contact you to schedule an appointment with you to assess the damages and collect data to provide the desk adjuster. Make sure you accompany the field adjuster during the inspection and point out any structural damage or areas of concern. Thereafter, s/he, the desk adjuster, will compile all data provided by you and the field adjuster to determine how much compensation you can expect to receive for your claim. Refer to your policy.
6. The waiting period. You have the option to move forward with your repairs while you claim is being processed with the understanding you are responsible for any repairs not covered under your claim. Refer to your policy.
The effect of no insurance carries a huge financial impact after an unwanted and/or unexpected event.
Here are some serious impacts to consider:
1. Damages from hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, or any kind of loss depending upon the location of the property can leave an owner with very expensive repairs, and the property could be deemed unsafe or uninhabitable.
2. Relocation. The homeowner bears all of the expenses as a result of the damages to his/her property that could delay repairs for months at a time; thus resulting in an unwanted total loss of use.
Rapid Xtractors, LLC will work with you to create an AGREED repair plan based on your budget to help stabilize the loss to your property.
